Safety Tips
Preparation
1. Measure the area where the panels will be installed to ensure you have enough panels and materials.
2. Clean the wall surface thoroughly to remove dust and debris for better adhesion.
3. Layout your panels on the floor to plan the arrangement and make any necessary cuts before mounting.
4. If installing the panels behind a TV, ensure the TV is bracket is mounted on the wall only via cut out and not onto the panels directly.
Installation steps overview
Step 1: Mark the Wall
Using a level and pencil, mark the position of the panels on the wall. Ensure each mark is level to achieve a uniform appearance.
Step 2: Prepare Panels
If cutting is necessary, measure and mark your panels before cutting with a saw. Double-check measurements to ensure accuracy.
Step 3: Attach Panels to the Wall
If using adhesive:
-Apply adhesive to the back of each panel according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
-Press the panel firmly against the wall in the designated position.
If using screws:
-Position the panel on the wall according to your marks.
-Use a drill to attach the panel with screws. Ensure each panel is securely fastened.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
-Check each panel for stability and ensure they are evenly placed.
-Fill any gaps between panels if necessary.
-Clean up the installation area and remove any excess material or dust.
Installation
1. Measure Placement on the Wall:
Carefully measure where each panel will be placed on the wall to ensure a precise fit.
2. Prepare Panels for Cutting:
-Place masking tape on the felt backing along the line where you plan to cut. This helps to visualize the cut line clearly.
-If there are staples near the cutting line on the side you’ll discard, reinforce this area with additional staples to secure the slats to the felt backing.
3. Cut the Panel:
Use a circular saw, band saw, or drop saw equipped with a fine-tooth blade for cutting. For the best results, cut the panel facedown to make a reverse cut, which helps protect the wooden veneer from damage.
4. Apply Adhesive:
-If you’re using adhesive for installation, apply it evenly across the felt side (back) of each panel.
5. Install the First Panel:
-Start with the first panel, placing it with the wood timber slat edge (not the felt overhang side) against the wall. Luxpanels feature a tongue and groove system; make sure the tongue of the second panel overlaps the groove of the first to ensure a snug fit.
6. Secure the Panel:
-Insert the desired number of black screws into the felt backing. This will hold the panel securely against the wall while the adhesive sets.
7. Continue Installation:
-Repeat the process with each panel until you reach the end of the wall. If the final panel is too wide, trim the excess with a Stanley knife or a sharp utility knife to fit the remaining space.
Troubleshooting
-If a panel is not level, loosen the screws or gently remove the panel if adhered, reposition it, and fasten it again.
-For gaps, additional adhesive can be used to fill or adjust the spacing.
